That's Patrick Gaffney's old guitar. It's doing the rounds and getting cheaper 
Patrick had it for sale for $19.5k, then Rudy's had it for $23k or $24k? Then Fretted America (who still have it listed for $22k) and now Gruhns for $13k. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see it sell at that price now. Beautiful guitar!

Your wood looks a lot like this to me. It's a different look from most flamed maple I've seen, it's more subtle somehow. Maybe Paul would have an informed opinion?

That was excellent Paul. I don't think it's ever been said better.
We all hafta stop and acknowledge that if RIC was managed like Guild and Gretsch, Rickenbackers would be made in Indonesia, happy-go-luckily distributed by the freewheeling irrepressible folks at Fender.
This is the perfect time of year to send John and Cindalee a short note thanking them for the awesome job they've done with RIC. Preserving the heritage of this family owned business, they have brought Rickenbacker guitars firmly into the 21st century as progressive, iconic musical instruments.
