Just found this thread also. What a fantastic story and conclusion. Congrats to John but especially to Jeff! Makes me proud to call him friend.
I just wish I had a long-lost Rick story...

Awesome story and happy ending! I hate to say it, but I traded my first 1973 Jetglow 4001 to Mentor Music in Ohio back in 1980 for a.. PLEASE don't kill me.. a Gibson Grabber. I was still in HS, and didn't know any better!
There's a '74 Fireglow 4001 I traded to Monte Vista Guitar Shop in Tacoma WA in '81 that might be floating around still. It has PBass knobs on it. If you have the Bass, I still have the originals in a box. Me, I'm happy with the well used '72 Burgandyglow I found a few years ago.

...I'm lucky, that I sent my 1974 4001FG immediately after I bought it, to jingle-jangle for refinish and modding!
Nobody will ever recognize it!
