I was wondering about this myself. Unusual. I can't imagine it's a repaired back, otherwise, why not respray before buffing?
I suppose if it's a one-off or a NAMM special, we'll know before too long.

Great minds think alike! Maybe it's just the light and dust from the sanding? John Hall's voice-over says it becomes milky... still, it looks like a JG with MG back

Regretfully, most of it is chucked out. Nobody wants sawdust or wood scrap here. We've looked at everything we can think of to recycle it, including as an additive to planting soil to making compressed firelogs; it just doesn't work economically.
If we were in a cold area, it could be used to fire boilers for heating but until we can figure out how to turn that into air conditioning, it's a problem.
Same here. We throw out giant bags full of sawdust from the dust collectors here at the flight case shop.

If only it were economical to ship it all here. My main source of heat is wood and I'm sure all of that maple would be much better than the pine/fir I use, but getting it here would be way too expensive.
Now, if RIC wanted to open a Montana factory, hey...

Actually, you have to be quite careful using this kind of scrap in the fire. I used to take it home to burn . . . until I melted the andirons in the fireplace and the glass front shattered, sending hot shards that melted into the carpet.
I have a gas log set now.
The good thing about it is that after a whole evening of burning Maple, you only have about a cup of ash.

Yes, but better than when my brother stuffed two-thirds of a Christmas tree in the family fireplace one year. What a roar! What a scare! I thought the whole house would go up. We had a hard time explaining why the whole house reeked of smoke when the parents returned home!

True, luckily no andirons here, just a fire brick lined, quartz glass front wood stove that runs in the 90+% efficiency range. Made to handle pretty much any sort of wood. We occasionally get black locust, which burns amazingly hot (more BTU/cord than maple), but the smoke smell like you're burning something you cleaned out of the cat's litter box...

How about Hamster, or Guinea Pig shavings!
When the kids were small and had those pet "RATLIKE CREATURES", I paid a fortune for those darn shavings!

These are far from ratlike...they are my two chinchillas Cappi and Poppy:
The shaving do get expensive. Good for the company though, they are probably just selling off a waste product.

Wowza, sounds like a job for a Franklin stove, or else a pit.

I can tell that the meds are kicking in again!
I'm pretty sure sawdust pressed guitars, if at all possible would be quite heavy.

I kept my rodents on small wood chips rather than shavings - shavings usually have too much dust with it to be healthy.
Geesh, I'm giving rodent pet advise on a guitar forum???
How many pets do you actually have Ivan? A whole zoo?
