There were no Dean girls this year! I looked...and looked...and looked...and looked...
I heard that the NAMM Show was going to be a bit different this year but I had no idea that this is what they were talking about!
I didn't see any Coffin Case girls this year either (then again, I must have missed the Coffin Case booth? :? ), no Gretch girl, no girls in a few other booths I usually see them in. Not a good year for jobs for scantily clad women at Winter NAMM '14. Most booths continued to shrink in size and/or share space with other companies. Oh yeah, the economy must definitely be getting better.

Actually, the economy IS getting better Joey. US corporations are sitting on about 4.5 trillion in capitol made from record profits over the past few years, and are NOT reinvesting it.

You're welcome!

BTW, I did talk to my neighbors and found out what was going on that Thursday morning. During their reconstruction of a bathroom, when they took the tub out they found a good-sized hip bone and upper femur that were not obviously from an animal, although they figured that they were from an animal that had gotten into the space through an outside plumbing access panel when the house was not occupied. The CSU took the bones for analysis because they, like the police officers and detectives that came to the house, could not immediately identify them as animal, either, but my neighbors never heard anything more, so the bones must have been animal bones.

I have uploaded a video to YouTube:

The "clockwork guitar"
DSCN0192.jpg
is shown in action at 3:00, and the RIC booth with the W series is at 1:40.

This footage was taken with my Nikon Coolpix L820. I have more footage taken with my JVC camcorder that I hope to get transferred, edited, and uploaded.

Boy, Gary, you were there at the show during a very quiet period! Most of the time you could hardly get down the aisle!

Re some of your comments on the video, Ovation, Hamer, and Takamine came to Fender through their purchase some years back of Kaman Music Distribution. Hamer was killed off and Takamine, like Gretsch, is just distributed by Fender, not owned by them.

Other recent kill offs at Fender appear to be Genz Benz and SWR. Based on applications we've been receiving, it looks like a few more may be in the works. With the withdrawal of the IPO, there's no need for these brands that were purchased essentially as "fluffers".

There must have been a very shiny guitar in the Guild section as a guy was checking his hair in the glossiness of the finish, at 5:15. And, thanks for putting earplugs on the camera's microphone. 8)
