Save a bunch of money and buy an ORIS. :D
Meh...

Too big and " look at me" for my taste. But a lot to offer for the money though!

They have plenty of nice understated watches, and I feel are great value, relatively speaking.

opticnerve wrote:Andy, I don't think you understand. The pick guard in the picture from '75 IS the original pick guard.

Sometime after the picture was taken the owner Michael "Mick" Griffith painted the guard with black nail polish

to match his fingernails! You can still see remnants of the black polish at the lower left corner where the guard sat.

The guard was then replaced in 2002 with a fugly oversized guard.

When I had the new pick guard made I wasn't going by the '75 picture, I didn't even have it yet. I traced the "ghost"

finish fade "imprint" on the bass. I would say that the "imprint" is definitive proof that the original guard was short...no?

BTW, the kid in the '75 picture is Mick's son Jackson....who sold me the bass.

For those interested, here's the thread with the full story of the bass.

Tony, a little miscommunication here...

After that brief first paragraph, where I mention the photo, I revert to talking about the guard on the bass mentioned in the thread, not your April bass!

No question that appears to be a genuine shorter guard you originally had on your bass.

I'm still not convinced on the validity on the one mentioned here however.

Ok, now makes sense!

My wife does that quite often...but she blames me for not catching on!

Guilty I am sometimes, I suppose...??? lol

Carry on...

Andy, I will let you know if the guard is correct when the bass arrives from Paris which should be any day now.
