Pickup arrived yesterday; put it in the CS and it sounds huge, as it should. The more ballsy sound seems to suit the CS which is naturally quite lively; stops it being too harsh. Then as an experiment put Sergio's pickup (from the CS) in my old 72; WOW!!!!! I was blown away. Used both basses at rehearsal last night, and the 72 is back to the top of the class! It had been sounding somewhat tired of late; now I know why! So 2 total results in one; the CS is now perfect and the 72 is back to being my fave. Thanks Sergio!!!!

BTW, for anyone considering importing something like the 'shoe into the UK, I got hammered for duty and taxes; it cost me £108 on TOP of the cost of the pickup and shipping! That's going on 40%, give or take. Ouch! Still, all's well that ends well, and I'm happy.

Jared, what are those "faux shoes" made from? Are they polished or chrome plated? I do miss the look of the horseshoe since I swapped it for the HB1 in my "Model 3600" bass but not the sound. While the "shoe" does sound great, the EQ required from either of my Ampegs is COMPLETELY different which required compromise settings for both to sound decent. Last night at rehearsal I optimised the settings to the HB1 and pretty much nailed Geddy Lee's sound from the "Permanent Waves" era when played without a pick. The rest of the evening my drummer(a MAJOR Neil Peart freak) and I went through every Rush song we knew.

Dane, the 'slippers' are 2000 series aluminium. The polish is similar to chrome, but the best part is the cover slips over the p'up. No soldering needed.

The aluminium doe not alter the tone, IMHO
