Hmmm....okay Jeff, you borrow Kevin's Ricks, and I'll borrow your Jetglo 4004JPJS.

The two bands I'm currently playing in insist on my playing a Squier Precision (surf band) and my Carvin 5-string. So, no Rics for me lately.

But another band wants me to fill in next month, so it's Ric time again!

Shirley, there must be some '60s surf bands that played those other more iconic So Cal brand of instruments, right?

Sad. I haven't been able to find like-minded musicians here in many a year, so I while away the time playing solo to the furniture.

I agree completely, but, if you look back, you find that, no matter what they played on their first hit, they rush out and get matching Fenders. Whether they buy them or are gifted them from Fender, that's what they play from then on.

"But what about the Ventures?" you might ask. Well, the Ventures never considered themselves a surf band, despite having what many consider to be the seminal surf hit with Walk Don't Run. They played Fenders until they got a sponsorship deal with Mosrite and, when that deal expired, went back to Fenders.

While I'm on the subject, why do guitar players complain that Rickenbacker necks are too narrow, when they're almost exactly the same width as, say, a Fender Strat?

A Rick fits better than a Carvin 5 string. Nothing against a Carvin 5 string, but it seems much more out of place. Just my own humble opinion.
