OK, here's one.
Which 4 pop groups in the mid 1980's agreed to record an album together?
Each group was going to record a cover version of the other 3 groups songs, so there were to be 12 songs on the album.
Only contractual (record company!) disagreements prevented the project from happening.

There were a lot of rumours in the music press about it at the time, some thought it was just the press making up stories as usual, but in reality, it was really close to happening. The recording studio had been booked.
Come on numpties!

I don't know the answer either Rob, I have racked what's left of my brain and nothing rings a bell.
In the meantime here's one for you that might be a bit easier...............the phrase I heard it through the grapevine had its genesis in what city and and place?
To be more specific, what exactly took place to provide us with the orginal meaning of the phrase.

Whist not the answer you were looking for Brian this is what i stumbles across.
In 1987, ( i heard it through the grapevine)this got new life when it was used in commercials for California Raisins, with claymation raisins performing the song. In addition to boosting raisin sales, The California Raisins became an '80s fad, and were the most popular Halloween costume that year.Funny how a Motown song and raisins were brought together to make a success and both did pretty well out each other!

Good grief Scotty, they bombarded you with those raisin commercials as well?

It was going to be.......
The Style Council
The Blow Monkeys
Wet Wet Wet
and Wham.
Could've been interesting.

Oooh, the Style Council...To add to the general feeling of nausea generated by that quad-band idea, I have a fairly easy Style Council question:
In which English-speaking country did The Style Council radically outsell The Jam?

Probably the USA, "My ever changing moods" was pretty big here.

Fair call Mike, "My Ever Changing Moods" was top 30 in the US, but where I'm thinking, the Style Council had multiple top 20 hits and a number 1, which they didn't manage in the UK.... whereas the Jam was an influential non-commercial band...
