Hey Jim,
I'm sorry, my meds are getting the better of me,
did you open the new arrival yet?
CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU!
Does THAT complete the USA contingency?

Dave & Ted, I can only imagine your disappointment. You have every reason to be upset.
Ted, next time I see you, remind me to explain the Hastwell Principle to you. It's named after my junior school head mistress, who was a most unpleasant lady and was very nasty to me one day when I was about six years old. Thirty years later fate intervened. The story also involves a large truck.
In situations like the one you are in at the moment, the Hastwell Principle brings a wry smile to one's face.

Thanks for the smile Darren! I'll keep that in mind.
Four of us got screwed here. Marc, Jeff, Dave, and I lost out on our chances to own a 75th. I have to say Scott, it will be hard to ever say a positive thing about CME again. The arrogance and blatant dishonesty the CME staff displayed is more than a little disappointing. Scott Silver lied to me face to face twice and then tried to pass the whole thing off as the act of an over zealous employee. Scott micro-manages that place to the nth degree. There is no way anything could go on there without his complete and total knowledge. I took the man at his word. Unfortunately, the respect was not mutual.

Tony,
Yes she arrived safe and sound yesterday, and I opened her this morning to find her in perfect condition.
I got her from Parkway Music, in Clifton Park, NY, all I can say is they have been great. I ordered her on a deposit of $500 via Matt at the store.
Matt followed up with me on a regular basis, and called me once she came in, and at which time I paid the balance. She was shipped UPS, and again I got a call letting me know the tracking number, since this was a Friday I asked if would hold shipping till the Monday which the were happy to do for me. I'd add Parkway Music to the list of good Ric dealers alongside Chris Clayton, and Mike Parks.
Fit and finish is outstanding, and has been said in a previous post, out the box she's in tune and set up very well, maybe a tad high for my liking, but still very well done. It's very strange to hold and play a non Fireglo Ric, but I'll get used to it.
Given all the heartache that's been suffered by fellow members, I'm not going to post pics, we all know what they look like and mine's no different, finish is opaque and I can't see the walnut headstock wings.
To those of you who lost your DCM's at the hands of CME or others, I'm truly sorry, and my heart goes out to you, these are no ordinary Rics.

You are a good man Jim Glen. Don't keep your pics to yourself on account of me. Please post away. Maybe a DCM will come my way some day.
I agree Jeff, most RIC dealers are honest and honorable people who love to serve musicians. It sucks when character-challenged folks enter into the mix. There is a big difference between greed and smart business. I actually feel sory for Scott Silver. What must have started out as a passion for great guitars and the pleasure they bring (something we have in common) has morphed into pure, shortsighted greed. I for one, won't spend another dime at Chicago Music Exchange.

"Character-challenged" got me to musing that EVERY hobby I've been involved with, all of which have been moneyed enough to support a subsystem of service vendors and suppliers, has had its share of "character-challenged" individuals.
The more money involved, the more character-challenged the individuals can be. It doesn't take long for the real flim-flam guys to surface and greed to begin to be exploited.
Greed is not a one-sided thing. The real pros know that it is what motivates collectors, and deal with their customers accordingly--playing upon their need to have and their fear of missing out.
I've heard many stories with unfortunate endings in this guitar business/hobby, and can only say that it's no different from any other hobby--once you are hooked, it can take all your spare cash, and there's always a dealer or broker somewhere who preys upon your trust and need.
In the end somehow, we'd like to think that "they" will get "theirs". Reasonably speaking, their fate is not usually too immediately affected, but eventually some do pay. In the vast majority of cases, the customer takes it in the shorts.
Even checking the BBB in this case would have not forewarned anyone...they have only had one complaint against CME in the last three years. Perhaps this would be an avenue to address for those not happy with this state of affairs.
