There appears to be at least RIC precedent for that headstock design; see Trotty's 730 Shiloh FH -- of the three guitars pictured towards the top of page 5, the one on the left: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=361531&hilit=shiloh&start=60

Though the designation "FH" is interpreted as "Fish Headstock" on that thread, I think it could just as well mean "Flared Headstock."

Don't mind me -- I've just never seen one before!

Masterful work on those guitars, Paul. Sparkling all around. Three more happy owners.

Or how about...the Dagwood?!

Very nice work. Paul!

Ha! "Dagwood"; I like it. Aesthetics aside, who came up with that design? I've seen it before, but it looks potentially eye-pokingly dangerous! :)

Love that headstock! Who designed the first ones? Looks reminiscent of this crazy one:

Though that's more of a flaccidtail than a fishtail.

The guitar on the left (above) and the guitar on the right (above) are the same guitar.

The one on the left simply got frizzy from high humidity...

As I recall, there are (at least) two acoustics with this headstock in the RIC collection.

I wanna know more about that TRC. Looks pearlish with rounded edges. Is it plexi with back printing and a pearl underlay, full pearl material with top printing, or??? Looks very cool... 8)

Yeah these are what I was thinking of. I was just wondering if you knew what the history was, what era they were from, or who's design it was.

They are from circa 1957, I believe. This (and the ornate profile) could indicate a possible Rossmeisl connection.

The pearl TRC is a sammich. Top is a back-laser-engraved clear piece, paint-filled, and it's laminated onto a piece of the same material that RIC uses for their new FWMOP inlays.

Ohhhhh.... Those blue acoustics are about the prettiest guitars I have ever seen! 8)

I especially love the Aquaglo, and also the pearl TRC.... Not so sure about the fishtail headstock, though it does have a certain over-the-top coolness factor.

Outstanding work as always, PW! :D

Thanks, Melissa!

Today, I'm working on at least 3 basses; wrapping them up before going on my first real vacation in 6 years.

This V68 for Peter Heinzel:

A very dark BG 4001 for Christoph Weiss:

...and a Tuxedo restoration...

Also, two JG LSs. One goes to Mexico:

An '82 320 in early stages:

A rather unusual Capri:

...Most will be shipped early next week, and I'll have more detailed photos when I return on September 5 or so.

Interesting, on the Tuxedo you can very clearly see a separation between the body wing and the side of the neck; what is the deal on that, Paul?

When it's completed and varnished, you won't. It's not a separation, but a clean, strong shadow. Structurally this one is and was flawless.
