Have a fine vacation. Six years since the last real one, eh? Well, you deserve it, then. Great work, as always.

Hey Paul,

Your work is amazing as always!

On the lightshow in the picture, are you putting lights around the control knobs now?

What a treat! Come here and find more picture updates - thanks.

Looks like the Tux was the easiest masking job you've had.

Enjoy the vacation Paul!

The current 2 LSs are the last to go out in this format. Back in May, I was supposed to have gotten dedicated circuit boards (much like those in the original LSs) for these 330s and also for 4001/4003s from my electronics guy, to make the conversions a bit less handbuilt looking and reduce the number of solder joints necessary. Unfortunately, his mother was hospitalized in late April and passed away in July. He's been back East attending to her care, and now he's dealing with being the executor of her estate. So the boards have been pushed back in my schedule, and I've made these last two handbuilt ones before the switch over. You'll note that circuit board has been moved to the bass side to allow for more room and less crosstalk from the guitar circuitry. This allows the LEDs near the control pots.

The Tuxedo is a difficult resto; I wasn't happy with results masking off the frets before paint, so the instrument was painted and the frets then installed. This means that each fret had to be cut to precise length, crowned, and the ends fully finished before it was set. This takes about 3X as long as usual.

Before painting any white or pastel guitar, I have to clean and mop the spray booth and install new intake filters. The tiniest bit of dust in the many coats of varnish, and the paint work looks shabby. Fortunately, I do mostly bursts... :D

There are some simply beautiful instruments featured in those last few posts, both from a construction and paint standpoint.

The Aqua acoustic going to Guam is jaw dropping. A quite beautiful combination of wood and colour, which is as perfect as I can recall on such an instrument. The V68 is magnificent in that shade of FG.

Lucky owners all, and kudos to Paul W for his vision and commitment.

And what is up with that 21'st fret on Peter's bass?

Hi Jeff,
that was a special request from me. :D I always wanted the option to play the second octave. The position of the fret is not 100% but with a little bending of the string 8) (which one does anyway during soloing) I can make very good use of it! I did not intend to upset the real 21-fretter owners!

I don't think anyone was offended. I've always wondered why basses don't have 21 frets - the bass starts on E, why not end on a high E?!
