I would get one too, but I doubt the price would be anywhere near as low as $2000.00, hollow and semi-hollow basses are expensive to make.

No question. It would be more.

But worth it.

If they would make a semi hollow in the shape of a normal 4000 series bass with the "slash" I might buy it... would take me awhile to save though. No way I'd pay over 2 grand for a standard model though. I'd want to customize something for that much.

I don't think the magic would be lost with a 4005 vintage reissue serie...maybe the price of the sixties basses would be really high only for the excellent condition units
There are still thousands of musicians willing to spend $$.$$$,00 for a pre-CBS (and post)precision/jazz even if brand new perfect reissues are available..and the magic of old "Tender" is still there

$2000 would be a bargain! I'd say even at $3000 you'd be getting a bargain if the build was up to usual Ric quality!

I do like that idea of a new semi hollow model though Dean!

I would love a 4005, but my max $$ would be $2000. I doubt they would move enough units to cover the retooling costs at such a low price though.
How about a semi hollow using the 330 body??
A v68 would essentially be a 4003 with some mods. A 4005 is a completely new instrument. For the v68, would the general public see enough of a difference beyond current offerings to actually buy any?

Wow - i'll have to take out a loan but sod it, you can put me down for one as well - especially if they added a few more colours to the palate (i guess this is asking to much from such a customer driven company

)
Those things are beautiful.

We'd never get a quality semi-hollow body bass for 2000.00. Even in their day they were more expensive than 4001's were. I would think $3000-$4000 would be more like it, which I would gadly pay.

A V68 would be a nice bass but I think the stupid cumbersome horseshoe pickup would kill it for many players even though it would also attrack the lunatic fringe, haha! (calm down, just a joke now!)
