Congrats Kevin! I assume a report will be posted once it arrives, and consult your chiropractor before full stage use. Image

I still can't believe that Geddy carried that 14lb monster around the stage just to play that chinese-sounding bit in Passage To Bangkok. The 4080 looks so cool but I can tell you, it is ***** to play for more than a song or two.

What Ric needs to do is bring back the 4080, but lighten it up a lot. Like, bring it down to 11 lbs. or so. I don't know how they'd be able to do that, but it would be a million times more playable that way. I guess if they moved the necks slightly closer to use less wood and maybe ultra-light tuners or something.

Robert, maybe a 4004 doubleneck?

Simply put, it is hard to make a light double neck. Rickenbacker was apparently aware of the weight issue. The body of the 4080 is thinner than that of a 4001/3. Moving the necks closer together would be, well, impractical. My wrist hits the guitar neck often enough as it is. Lighter tuners may help but the bulk of the weight is the body. In general, the 4080 is just a poor design. (IMHO) The guitar should have been on top and the electronics should have been separated.

Congrats!

As a warmup to the 4080 just play a 70's fender jazz... they are at least 12lbs.

Actually, he used it for the rhythm guitar during Alex's solo. But even then, you're right, it's a bit much for four chords over 16 bars. Looked cool as hell at the International Amphlitheater though!
