4004 body, 4004 bridge, 4003 pickups, 4003 pickguard, 4003 electronics . . . best of both worlds . . . at least, I would buy one in a heartbeat. Think about it; a slimmed down, lighter, easier to play Ric that still sounds and looks like a 4001/4003.

You guys may have heard already, but Geddy and Alex are getting toegther in Jan. '06 to start working on ideas for the next Rush album (they were interviewed on VH-1)...They didn't relate as to when they'd be ready for the studio..

YAY!!!!!!!!! I don't get VH-1 Classic here at college, so I was wondering what was going to happen in the interview. I can't wait for a new album . . . maybe Geddy'll pull out the 4001 (yeah right) . . . I still say that we all donate $20 or so and then use that money to buy a new Jetglo 4003 and send it to Geddy, see if he likes it.

John Hall stated on another forum that Geddy has a 4003 and he uses it for recording ...

Did he say what songs were recorded with the 4003? Could there be light at the end of the Ric tunnel? What forum did he read that also?
I would be willing to chip in $20.00 for the Geddy Ric fund..

I honestly think the neck profile of the 4003 makes it a good bass when it could be a great bass with a slimmer neck.
I don't think Geddy, would take the 4003 over his Jazz for this reason.
The 4004 also is plagued by this.
If they only had Geddy or McCartney, playing a new Ric sales would go through the roof.

I dont like the new 4003's. But the older one's (or at least that Iv played) dont seem to have the same big neck thing going on. Its something you can get use to. But I like smaller necks.
Am I right about the earlier 4003's tho? Is the necks generally smaller then the newer ones?
