Peter, my '72 4001LH was there too, setting next to the 360/12LH..I must have had it off the stand with Paul Boyer doing a pic or two when the photo was taken.

When I get back home, I'll have to post a pic of the only Desert Gold 4003 there...mine! (Taken by by me, of course!)

Thanks, all, for a great time!

Yes, the acoustics are nice.Particularly the Laramie. Would love to order one in Blueburst should they start taking orders again prior to years end. Doubtful though.

John Leftybass, I have seen your lefty 4001 in a photo on the previous page. I think that it belongs here with its friends in my collection!!!

That case is awesome! Regal Roman Purple. Not for the shrinking violets....It makes a complete statement.

Give me a burst bass in the same colour with the contrasting b/w checkered binding.

Now there's a bass...

Check this out! The guitar you see before you is the very one pictured on page 185 of the Smith book. The only difference is the Kauffman Vibrola has been replaced with a trapeze tailpiece.

All the grain and flame in the wood match! Image

Even as a bassist, I just love that guitar. You just had to see it up close.

The figuring on the back of the neck is wonderful, too, sorry I didn't take a photo of it. This guitar was rather heavy as the front and back are about 1/4" thick! It did have a nice feel to the neck, although the strings were detuned somewhat; I should have tuned it up and plugged it in to an amp to hear it's tone, but there just wasn't enough time with 112 instruments to check out. Jeffrey, my head was spinning. I could of spent an hour playing each guitar. I really was able to enjoy playing only about 15. Most of which time were the LK and the 4002. Stimulation overload.

Dave, Loved your mandolin. So many guitars, too little time. I must have tried about 25 to 30 instruments... The Tenor Guitar, 64 prototype with banjo tuners, Comstock, Shasta, Both Combo 850's, 310, The Capris, The BB 4005, 660/12, 660, the guitar pictured above, some 450's, 325's, a 950, Ryder, the kit guitar...

Yes that guitar is believed to be the first 360F made, the prototype--- it is in the trade show pics in 1958 as a 365F with only the black 'guard and a two-knob/two switch setup, ala a Combo 850. The wiring harness was added to not long after that and the gold upper 'guard was added as well. Sometime after the ad pic was taken the tailpiece was swapped out for a trapeze...the current tailpiece is the type Rickenbacker used on some stuff at that time, I'm sure it was factory installed.
