My best wishes for you, Andy.
Must be hard, man...

Ric should get it straight ... basses are more important than guitars ... we need more 4000 series made and less of those 300 and 600 series ...

The world has enough guitars but we need more basses ...

I am kidding ... or am I????

Jwr2,
You are right about bass being more important than guitar, just look at the number of posts between Rick Basses vs. Rick Guitars ;-)

Yep ... Ric guitars are cool in a retro sort of way ... cool for a 60's sound ... good rhythm guitar ... but the strat and the les paul are dominant in the guitar world ... But a Ric bass can hold it's own with any instrument ... it has a timeless distinctive growl ...

I don't know, that natural has kind of lost its appeal to me without the walnut wings. It's too bad they couldn't just stain the wings to at least give it the look.
The lead times I'm not that upset about, but it would be nice to at least be given some indication once an order is placed as to when they expect to ship, so funds can be ready. There is nothing worse than having your special order guitar show up, and having to get the store to hold it for you.

Andy I think they ought to fly you out to the factory, wine and dine you , give you a factory tour, then after an apology, present you with your bass as a gift..............I wonder if Chris Squire or Paul McCartney would have to wait 480 days. LOL

Hey Scott, How cool would that be. You know what - JH can keep the wine and the apology. I'll take the tour and the bass - I'll even pay for the bass. Hey, I be out there in a few weeks - maybe he'll go for it! Right!

Don't give up on your 4004 ... I took my out to play tonight ... plugged it into an Ampeg SVT with a Line6 Pod on the front end ... the 4004 has a nice mid growl ... kinda halfway between a 4003 and a P-bass ...

Music123 has 4004L's with a 2-3 week wait ... is that for real or BS???

Don't give up on your SVT either, haha. I got to get a 4004 too, but not for another year, I'm going back to Peru in a month for at least a year.

Bobampeg,
You may as well order your 4004, you'll be back before it arrives.

For Sure. I just couldn't resist. I’ve tried to avoid this topic lately – for my own sanity of cause. Well anyway - today it is 491 days and counting. Glad they’re back from holidays!

Cheers!

I saw the revised Cheyenne headstock on the ric web site. I am disappointed. I know I would not buy a Bass only for the looks of it, but this is a disappointment IMHO. I, for one, have been waiting for more than two years for the new Cheyenne 5 String to be available. And now that it takes at least one year waiting plus the Headstock changed, I think I give up.

I never liked the Cheyenne. The reason is that I hate gold hardware. Whatever bass has it.
The recent changes done on this model won't change my opinion about this bass, though I'm sure it plays and sounds great.
All the best,

I do like the gold hardware a lot on the Cheyenne, but it is not available on the 5 String version...
