Ageism in music drives me nuts. The drummer in my rock band is 50, I'm 33 and the rest of the guys are in their mid to late 20's and nobody cares. We play, we hang out, we get along fine. To us, there is no age, only music.

Dane, the same happened to me a couple of years ago. That is a pretty messed up attitude.

I just talked with a guy who had a freakin Michael Jackson song on his set list ... no way I am going to play that **** ...

I usually end up playing music with younger guys ...

'"I can't believe how hard it is to find a good drummer in SoCal!!!"'

Same problem here in Cleveland! Obviously it is drummers everywhere.

You'll find the right band, Jeff. You haven't been in Denver too long, yet.

I never had a problem finding a drummer when in lived in the Bronx. Are all the drummers in the NYC area? LOL
I have a couple of drummers friends back in NY. I wish that at least one of them would move to SoCal.

"How to get Jeff Rath's Attention"
hehehe, just say some disparaging things about 5 string basses!

Oberlin is the same way . . . we have plenty of great drummers . . . but they're all conservatory students who only play from jazz charts . . . try getting them to play "Rock and Roll" or "Who Are You?" and watch the eyes stare blankly . . .

All you have to do is say "5 string bass" that gets my attention

I figured as much Jeff, do you really not play 4 stringers anymore? Myself, I'm too much of a old timer to fiddle with them newfangled contraptions, I'd get tangled up in all the strings!

Jeff, thanks for the compliment, I'm a tad rusty these days but would love to get out and pound on stuff sometime soon Image

Steve ... you were better than some of the drummers we had in Minutes to midnight ...

Gene ... any stringed instrument that does not have a low B just seems weird to me ...
