And, as you can see, Mark's April 73 has a split tailpiece

Thanks for the pics, Mark.
Andy, I asked whether this 4001 was Jetglo 'cause I did seem to remember seeing a black '69 4001 with HS pickup somewhere - maybe Gbase - two or three years back.

That one had a lapsteel in it Sergio I believe. The LS surround was present on the bass too IIRC.
This bass has two previous owners going back 25 years and is partially dismantled, as the original bobbin needs rewinding...

Yea, the April has the split tailpiece and wide inlays, the May has non-split tailpiece with small inlays, everything else is the same(check binding, plexi trc, toaster at 1/2", wavy grovers)

You got it...

My pleasure. Actually, IIRC a '68/'69 HS bobbin shouldn't be very different in looks from an early high-gain pickup.

Hey Sergio-
I ended up with the black 69. The HS wasn't original, nor was
the color.
I had to have it any way
It's at Dales getting a proper fireglo.

John:
Thanks for the info. Fireglo, eh? Please send some pics our way when you have the Rick back.
Andy:
That's one desirable 4001 to be sure. What's with the pickguard on it though?

Thanks Kevin. It has to get here first...
The guard is obviously non original Sergio, as is that neck p/up too.
I just happen to have a genuine 69 guard. The question is, will the holes line up....

Sergio, the treble pickup from my Feb '72 4001 has small round head slotted screws. I can send you a picture if needs be.

Andy, what were the other two screw holes for in between the bridge and the p/up...?
