Will do, Paul. I have a guitar I've been trying to build for myself for some time that I'll probably use it on. I just don't have enough time to indulge myself, so it's always put off. IMO, waterborne finishes will ultimately take over from solvent-based. The finishes that Target sells have been around for some time, and their waterborne lacquer has gone through a number of improvements in the time I've been using it. It's always been good, but their recent iterations have vastly improved the burn-in, which was already good. It's finicky about cure time, though. They say you should be able to wetsand and buff it out after 72 hours, but I've found that it's best to let it hang at least 10 days, and probably two weeks.jingle_jangle wrote:Then you are ahead of me on that. My vendor won't sell me waterborne until it's legislated here...I think he has nightmares about the first-gen stuff. Do let us know how the waterborne works out for you. I'm intrigued.
