I don't know this young lady but..........here's what I uncovered after 5 minutes or so of sleuthing:

"Leona Lewis has set a new record for the fastest-selling debut in the UK, after her album Spirit sold over 375,000 copies during its first week of release.

Leona became a household name as the X Factor winner whose debut single 'Bleeding Love' quickly became the biggest UK single in just three weeks. Nothing wrong with that but with possible exception of a girl group Girls Aloud who have enjoyed a lot of success in UK, vast majority of the previous winners you rarely hear of again.

I think this girl will be different though and will appeal to a big young audience.

Roy: It would seem that Simon Cowell has found another success story. With regard to "Bleeding Love" I am wondering if anyone else finds it, using Simon's well rehearsed phrase "forgettable" at least the auditory version.

To my ear, the "beat box-like" backing track over powers the vocals in places and the wispy and whiny phrasing interjected by Leona take away from her otherwise great tone and range. I do not think that this recording really highlights her singing talents.

I think you are right that Leona will have appeal to the younger audience and arguably beyond. At the same time I have to wonder what unique singing qualities that she offers that make her just noticeably different from other artists today.

Monster's Holiday was the follow up single made number 30 in US in December 62.

Another track in 63 called Graduation Day scrapped into Top 100.

One of his last recordings before he passed away in 2007 was called Monster Slash (really a re-make of Monster Mash) which was recorded in connection with some save the earth thing.

The same recording as the original was re-released twice in the early 70s. In '73 it made the top ten again. Leon Russell was one of The Cryptkickers, and the Beach Boys did an excellent version of it.
