I like the new inlays even better than the pre-73 ones. How about that?

In fact, it was hinted that there are still some 4003afg to be delivered, and they should have the new inlays. I'm all in for one of those. Should that not be the case, I will be down for a nice fg or mg with best inlays Rickenbacker has ever made.

Ok, now how about that skunk stripe?

I really like the new FW and the vintage headstock 'as God intended.' I'm going to go out on a limb here and even speculate that perhaps next year, the check binding may come back standard - 'as God intended.'

Better put in my order now.....

Some how, I think that the skunk stripe, and the checkerd binding would do more to increase the current backlog. Although they are great features, I say RIC should stay the corse, that is to work on getting the backlog down, and look forward to the day, when any Joe Blow can walk into his local music store and pick from a half a dozen units on the wall (in stock) and pick the RIC he/she likes the best. That would do more to enhance the product line the most IMHO.
However, having said that, if I am wrong, and the stripe and binding would INCREASE production, then full speed ahead!!! :D

The FW's on the 360 AFGs we're making now look incredible. Seems to me there are two types of people when it comes to this question: Those who LOVE the new inlays, and those who have never seen them in person. I was skeptical about how they would look on a transparent color, but they look really cool. The way they accentuate JG and Mid instruments is remarkable. Very classy looking.

But, no checked basses nor skunk stripe in the works...

I like 'em. The shark fin inlays are one of the things I noticed first when I saw my first Rick bass in person 26 years ago. A unique and cool feature. I like the small inlays, but I prefer the full-width. The bigger they are, the better they stand out.

Well done, RIC!

I think they look the best on the 360 Mid. Between the inlays and the new Midnight paint, it just has a retro jet age kind of cool to it...

They're growing on me. I'm gonna have to seek one out to see in person.

I agree with Ben, the new guitars look awesome in MID and JG. I played a new MID 360 w/ FW's and was blown away by how good it looked. The same day I played the 360, I bought a new JG 4003 w/ FW's and I think I like that color best on the 4003's w/ the new inlays. It does look very classy. Although, I'm sure I will add a new 4003 in FG in the near future. FG + walnut wings + vintage neck + FW's is just too good to pass up. 8)

I finally got to see the new inlays on a 4003 yesterday. They look awesome. Much better better looking than any pics. Not mine. Mine will ship soon, I hope.
I took this pic yesterday. It doesn't show the pattern in the inlays all that well. This was a left handed 4003. Since it was left handed, I really couldn't play it, but I could tell that the neck was slim and kind of felt like the neck on my '75 4001FL.

I personally prefer the full width inlays. I stopped by the local dealer here to take a closer look and they really don't represent visually in photographs. In person they look very bright and clean.
