Since the word "Fantasy" was used here...i'm running with it. I would pretty much dump all my non-ric guitars to get a 360/12F, but with the original body template etc. In the Smith book, I believe that one was ordered, but never produced. Mostly, it'd be a reissue of my Fantasy. Since Bettie Page rolled a seven, this is my new fantasy.

wow,can't believe i missed this thread! for me,the 1950's version 4000 all the way!!! with cresting wave back painted gold pickguard and trc /walnut/maple sammiches/reasonable bridge.........slobber/drool

I missed this thread, too. Fun window shopping.

Fortunately, I'm holding my C68 fantasy bass in my avatar.

I now own a 1997 reissue, so I can throw that out the cards to be reissued. What I want now is for the 1993/12 to return!

I missed this thread, but I'm surprised no one mentioned the 4005, and I'm not even a bass player! I always thought they looked so cool.

I bought it from Sam Ash in 1987 after calling Rickenbacker and asking if they had plans to reissue this model (I was heavily inspired by Marty Willson-Piper from The Church). Wow, what timing. I was told that Sam Ash had put in a special order for some and to call them. Spoke to and ordered from Jimmy D. there. I had just purchased a new 360/12 Fireglo along with a '64 Vox AC30 the same year (shoot me for selling that one!). I turned around and sold the 360/12 to buy the 1993. Truth be told, I thought the 360/12 was a better player than the 1993. Kind of miss it.
Also, not sure I like the color on mine - Jimmy D. described it best as kind of apricot. I prefer a little more pink I guess but that's just personal taste.
One thing that always kind of bothered me about this particular one - and see if you agree with me or it's my imagination. It always appears to me that the way the body was cut on the curve between the top horn and the top butt seems to be odd - almost like the top butt was cut a little shy of the full width.
Anyway, I know, quite my belly aching - I've got one for pete's sake (pun intended).

I do still have it. No current plans to let it go though I was on the verge about 5 years ago - but glad I didn't. It is a beautiful instrument and of course quite the collector's item. But in all honesty, other than the rarity/unusual features of it, it plays like any other 330/12 I've played from 20 years ago. The 360/12 I had from the same year as this actually played easier (wider neck?) and had the newer hi gain pickups which I actually thought sounded nicer through my '64 AC30 than the 1993 did with it's toasters.

But if I ever do decide to let 'Rosie' go, I'll let everyone here know first.

My mother has family in Minneapolis...it might be quite the drive, but if I happen to stumble into Madison, could we meet up so I could play that beauty?

Maybe you could have your guitar 1993'd when you have the other repairs done; ask about it.
