Lennon325 - Thanks for starting this thread. It's great to see so many sweet 660's and 620's. I've only had my 620 for a couple of months- but it is fair to say that I'm completely taken with the way it sounds, plays and records !
I've actually never had my hands on a 660 - and that is probably a good thing - because it is certain that I can't afford one : ) - I'm sure if I did see one in person- I would feel like I couldn't afford to be w/o one..
I really like the look of the new whiter inlays- but prefer the sharktooth shape versus full width..

Thank you, good sir. It's so beautiful in person that I can NEVER photograph just how the great the flaming is. It's so 3-dimensional and striking. My grandmother is way into antiques, and she said "Some dresser maker would have killed you for that 'tiger maple'" which is the biggest compliment she could give towards the grain and wood of the body.

I just wish I had the cash to get a matching 12 string.

As I mentioned before, between the great shading we're seeing on these Fireglo finishes, the figured wood, and full length inlays, it's a good time for Rickenbacker fans.

This is sheer manipulation on the part of RIC. Put out all these awesome new guitars, get all of us obsessive fanatics to salivate over them, buy new RICs at the new prices, forcing us to sell some of our old ones, creating a healthy used market, allowing people to buy used at a lower cost than a new one, thereby helping to reduce the backlog via the used market. Does this make any sense, or is it complete hogwash? I never took economics.

Mayhap you are right.. Also more to come it appears. I think that JH has hinted/ teased that there will be some "fresh" news in Jan. As if Ric-afficiados needed anything more
to fuel the fires of speculation.

For those who own both 620's and 660's- are there significant inherent differences / qualities between the two models in their sonic
signature ? I understand that they have different pickups-

but of course, after getting my 620- I've got the fever, and have been musing over 660's and also 350v63's.

I really love the "flame" on the back piece of the neck as it goes through the body



The 620-12 has the most beautiful piece of bubinga on the fretboard that I have seen on a Ric; the JG's fretboard appears to be paduk from the cinnamon color and uniform grain, but I could be wrong on this...

An interesting note is that the twelve string come fitted with two bridge spaced pickups from the factory. I am not sure of this was the standard practice at the time or not, but it makes for a great sound with both pickups are selected.

Anyway, this is my first post with pics, so I am hoping I did this correctly.

Jackplate has 90 and 33752 on it.
The info didn't come with the guitar - it was new from a shop, too.....

Congrats on your acquisition.

When the Ric web-site comes back on-line, you can run a serial number search and find out the month and year of production. That serial number format does not match the U.S. domestic format, but as an export, it may have a different sequence.

The guitar looks much like mine above, with the smaller "sharks fin" position marker inlays.
