So how did you get Wints to part with a 60's 4001?
That is a beautiful bass BTW. Which month in '64 was it built? The reason I am asking is because it has a square neck heel like my '63. I seem to remember the change to a rounded heel occurring sometime in '64.

No pain anymore.thb_bassman wrote:You know John, my parents once told me I was left-handed as a small child and they more or less forced me to be right handed.leftybass wrote:Boy that's a beauty...I'd like to find a lefty like that.
Lucky I can't remember the frustration of being so hungry and unable to use a spoon in my right hand... must have been horrible!
Now I play righty but still do a lot lefty, not quite ambidextrous enough, though.
It is unfortunate that so much of the world isn't too supportive of lefties. I feel your pain, brother...

I should quote that line from Heaven Can Wait when Fonsworth buys the football team and the ex owner tells the press how the deal was done...rickfan60 wrote:So how did you get Wints to part with a 60's 4001?That is a beautiful bass BTW. Wow, Andy...very cool of you!wints wrote:

John,
I consider that '69 right up there with Grant's 21 fret Burg as one of the nicest basses I've seen!

Thanks Kevin.teeder wrote:John,

It's fair to say it's not 'original' nice, it is more original than not----but I love it just the same.. and I am pretty sure it may have had a little 'help' along the way (in terms of the clearcoat), but not much ....it is my intention to show it to as many people as I can and form a consensus from the opinions.
Re: 4001 -- New model of the week!
Uhm. I think it's hawt. Does that help?
Re: 4001 -- New model of the week!
John, all original or not, how many lefty '69 basses are there?!! How may 60's lefties??!! You have a great looking gem.
Re: 4001 -- New model of the week!
This was THE main reason I got it, John......after looking forever and ever here it was. I have to thank my pal Dave Pascoe, he is the one who originally brought it to my attention.johnallg wrote:John, all original or not, how many lefty '69 basses are there?!! How may 60's lefties??!! Dave is a great guy, a good friend to many here on the Forum.....
