So how did you get Wints to part with a 60's 4001?

That is a beautiful bass BTW. Which month in '64 was it built? The reason I am asking is because it has a square neck heel like my '63. I seem to remember the change to a rounded heel occurring sometime in '64.

You know John, my parents once told me I was left-handed as a small child and they more or less forced me to be right handed.
Lucky I can't remember the frustration of being so hungry and unable to use a spoon in my right hand... must have been horrible!
Now I play righty but still do a lot lefty, not quite ambidextrous enough, though.
It is unfortunate that so much of the world isn't too supportive of lefties. I feel your pain, brother...

No pain anymore.

I should quote that line from Heaven Can Wait when Fonsworth buys the football team and the ex owner tells the press how the deal was done...
"I asked for a price, and the *^%#*@$% said yes"
I do have back up as well Ted

, and thought it would be nice if someone else could get the chance to own a 60's bass. If it was my only bass from this period it would have stayed with me. The dark 64 FG is very distinctive, and really looks classic 60's to my eyes.

John,
I consider that '69 right up there with Grant's 21 fret Burg as one of the nicest basses I've seen!

Thanks Kevin.
It's fair to say it's not
'original' nice, it is more original than not----but I love it just the same.. and I am pretty sure it may have had a little 'help' along the way (in terms of the clearcoat), but not much ....it is my intention to show it to as many people as I can and form a consensus from the opinions.

This was THE main reason I got it, John......after looking forever and ever here it was. I have to thank my pal Dave Pascoe, he is the one who originally brought it to my attention.
Dave is a great guy, a good friend to many here on the Forum.....
