My favorite movie of the series is First Contact.

But the ship really needs to look more like a Rick...

I think the original series was the greatest of them all.

Living in Canada, and having our dollar often worth 80 cents American or worse, I have always found the used Rickenbacker market to be the most desirable.

I suspect that there will be more trades during the days ahead as people make best use of the resources that they have.

I'm in a very similar position Peter. With the Pacific Peso worth less than 70 US Cents, and more pertinently, less than 60 Yen, buying a new Ric through Rickenbacker Asia is challenging, whereas I've picked up three great second-hand Rics in the last 4 years.

A side issue: interesting that, despite the collapse in oil prices, shipping costs from the US have not come down....

Don't hold your breath on that one. Once they've got a hike they won't back down without a fight. Gasoline prices have dropped but that has not been reflected in the service industries. Retailers have dropped their prices for other reasons.

You're right, Kira...... once it's up it never goes down. Interesting to note that retailers here want to drop their prices to stimulate spending but they can't because of increased product cost due to our 3rd world dollar and increased business costs.... in particular here in Victoria where land tax (levies placed on commercial and investment properties) are once again being hiked by up to 400%!! This is not the place to discuss the Victorian government's attitude toward business and taxpayers in general but suffice it to say it sucks!!! Ever wondered what the hell governments do with your taxes and why they're never enough??

Not at all, at least not yet. In fact, I purchased three new guitars this month (Jan. 09) as I finally got tired of waiting for the 2 I've had on order since 2006, one on order since last year (which I just changed to something in stock!). I love Rics, maybe a fanatical obsession - certainly my greatest GAS - but, the waiting is not fun.

Looking around at authorized dealers in the US, it seems as though there are more available now, then in the recent past? I was shocked to find a dealer that had what I wanted, in stock, in various finishes. So, yes I basically went all out and melted my credit card, as finding new Rics available is not very common IMO.
