Birth-year bass for me. If it was September I'd have no choice but to throw crazy money at you to get it.
Yup, the earliest ones had magnetic shoe horseys on them. Look at the coil and see screws, not the magnetic rods.

johnallg wrote:Beautiful Andy! Jeez, ya gotta rub the HS in on us?! A question - do you know the winding readings on both pickups? You've got me really curious. My '93 has 14k toaster and RIHS.

I was so inspired reading this thread over, I pulled out my V and had a go at it again for an hour. Very nice, comfortable, and great sounding - pretty aggressive.

No sorry, John! Don't have the readings, wouldn't know how to do it - never was in to that type of tech stuff. Do love the sound though and the neck on this sweet thing is that typical '85 shadow type neck. All around great bass!!!

Thanks Andy. I'm thinking the pickups are lower windings that give clearer tones, which I prefer. Just wondered where yours were. Nolo Problemo.

I had to start somewhere, Kevin. The first step was admitting I have a problem. And now I've done something about it!

First Rick I've ever sold in over 26 years of Rick ownership. And there's nothing wrong with it, BTW! A flippin' gorgeous bass that plays and sounds as good as it looks. I'm just more into my older Ricks and my C64S (for now anyway!)

Mine, a '93 which used to belong to Sam Davis and John Biscuti before Sam. Sometime in it's existence (I'm assuming before JB had it), it belonged to someone who overdid the trying to be just like Paul McCartney thing,. Supposedly it was Lindy Fralin that rewound the pickups to vintage specs and the pickup selector switch was wired backwards, which drove me nuts until I wired it the right way. The routes are also copper shielded. I'm assuming the same McCarthy over enthusiast had that done.
Now that I've repaired the chip on the face of this V63, I need to take some nice pics of it.

SSSSssssssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhh KEVIN!

We must help our friend Jeff get over his addiction....what are friends for? We're here to help!

TRADES are good too Jeff! I LOVE TRADES!

I've cut WAY DOWN myself. I guess it's just the life cycle of the RIC afflicted.....get one, then get MANY MORE, then one here and there, then sell what you don't play.....and then get others addicted and watch them go through the same thing... .

My example from 1998.
Didn't keep it long enough to really get to know it.

I understand.
If things don't turn around soon with my business, I may be selling something off too. Only problem is, I don't have one I want to get rid of.

Well I hope things do turn around soon with the business.

That's my problem. I could have 80 Ricks and still not have one I want to get rid of!
