Some web site I visited, I believe it was Warmoth, was saying that birdseye maple was rarely used in bodies. Anyone know why this could be? They acted like it just never happened, for some implicit reason. Of course this behavior applies to a lot of things RIC does and many of those things are things I happen to appreciate--so maybe like those other things Warmoth was just point out convention and ignoring exceptions.

Hey, I did point out a while back that you seemed to have a hole in your collection in the area of RIC basses...
(At least in the various pics I've seen)

Ya know I just thought, instead of selling these instruments for extremely expensive prices, wouldnt be cool that the next time Rickenbacker has a piece like this, instead of putting it on ebay and forceing people to shell out large amounts of cash, that instead have a entry contest for it, instead of bleeding the Ric, faithful who already spend alot of thier hard earned cash on thier instruments, (after all it was made from left over parts) so how much could it have really cost them to build, throw your supporters and faithful a bone, just a thought.

No offense but they can do whatever they want with these one-offs. It is probably worth as much as it sold for. As far as a player's instrument goes it is likely no better than any other 4003.

No offense taken, it was just a thought, as far as as good as any other 4003, I agree, why I wouldnt pay 3k plus, but with the economy the way it is, it would give those who dont have that kinda cash to throw away a shot at it thats all, would actually be a good jesture by the company, but once again the almighty dollar takes top priority.

I think this is a good jesture from the company.

Alot of times when a company produces something like this, they just destroy it afterwards. At least they give us a chance to bid on a true "one-off".
