Wow, just came across this five year old thread of mine. Me crying and whining that Ric doesn't make a standard 325...they just offer the super expensive Lennon spec Miami model. Me saying I will put up the good fight and hold out against Ric until they make a simple 325 model and I will not buy the Lennon-spec models.

Well, I lost my fight.

Just as an update to this thread, a year ago I bought the 325c64 Miami model. I feel glad I have the wonderful guitar. I feel shame I caved in and went against my pricipals so elequently stated in this thread.

Now I hope Ric never does produce a cheap affordable, basic 325 model. I hope they only make these vintage models. If I had to go against my principals, then so should everybody else!

Funny to re-read this thread and see how adamant I was about not buying one of these beauties. In the end, I lost my battle...but did I really? I am happy I was weak and now have a beautiful 325.

RIC's theory on holding the (expensive) line on the price of 325's is correct:

It's an iconic instrument that was played by perhaps the most iconic of Rickenbacker players, and it shouldn't be "cheapened" by a budget model - if you want it, you're going to have to pay for it.

And now that you finally have your own, it sounds like you understand.

I agree, John Fogerty is the man!

That other guy with the round glasses was not to shabby either, his name escapes me.


I absolutely love this model, and will have one eventually but I think I may have to wait until either I get divorced or the kids get older and become less of a financial burden before I do!

Or, in my case, I had a big birthday bash where I got a good deal of cash as gifts from guests. I took all those gifts and applied it to what I saved for the guitar. Definitely softened the blow a lot.
