Never met anyone internationally famous,
Their loss
I remember a German movie, not a comedy but with a few funny moments, the latter about an American actor (not one of those Oscar winners but still known and loved by people) who came to Germany to do movies or something and was wandering around Berlin (looking for something perhaps), alone, and bumping into people. They were, like, "no, it cannot be him!" — and back to their life as if nothing happened.
Okay, i know it's only a movie, but anyway, the thing is — you'll never know where, when and who you may bump into.
PS: oh, and — no, i've never met anyone internationally famous.
It's almost impossible to meet someone internationally famous outside the US or the UK, they exist elsewhere but a lot less than in these two places...
So long and thanks for all the fish!
Re: Have you met anyone famous?
I'm famous in Indonesia, but I still can't even get arrested here...
I didn't get where I am today by being on time...
Re: Have you met anyone famous?
Well, Gil, the full version of the phrase should have been, "i've never met anyone internationally famous but i've never really wanted to".
Oh, and my older sister was on TV once, as a part of a band, quite a while ago when she was living in Israel, does that count?

Nothing will get you dead quicker than being deadly serious about yourself.

That's funny...a man I used to work for who is now a good friend was an extra in that movietbplayer wrote:When I was 17 I smoked with Don Johnson.
We were working on a movie called "A Boy and His Dog" where I also met Jason Robards and Tiger, the Brady Bunch dog.

Re: Have you met anyone famous?
I'd have to think for a few days to remember. Kinda weird growing up in So Cal just over the hill from Hollywood & Beverly Hills. See a lot of people in cars, like Alfred Hitchcock, Joni Mitchell, Stevie Wonder (Hitch and Stevie weren't driving!). Met George Harrison whilst he shopped for underwear and Pierce Brosnan in a ski rental line. Me and a pal shared an elevator with Ricardo Montalban, and our scruffiness must have scared him, cause he ran out, and he had a bum leg. Got into a Cordoba!
Harrison has been the only one I actually approached and talked to, IIRC. Most I feel want to be left alone. But how could I pass on a Beatle?
Did a gig with the Motels (early days), met Martha. Gigged with the Cowsills, late '70's. They were a freakin' amazing band.

When I was a kid (eight or nine - 1962/63), a collection of my father's paintings were part of a display in NYC. There I met Sandy Becker who, for me at that time, was like meeting Mickey Mantle or President Kennedy or someone equally important.

George Sanford Becker (February 19, 1922 – April 9, 1996), who was known professionally as Sandy Becker, was a television announcer, actor, and comedian who hosted several popular children's programs in New York City. The best known of these was The Sandy Becker Morning Show, which ran from 1955 to 1968 on Channel 5 WABD-TV and WNEW-TV.

I met Marilyn Manson once in a strip club, he was a really intelligent friendly guy, and I really liked him despite the fact that my girlfriend was giving his bassist Twiggy Ramirez a lap dance at the time.

Went rappelling with my Brigade Commander (then) Colonel Colin Powell. Attended a weekend actors workshop with Clu Gulager. Chatted with Bill Paxton for an hour after the Northridge earthquake. Saw Ronald Reagan at Hickam Field Hawaii. Also met this guy...

Those that I can remember:
Mike Love*
Al Jardine*
Bruce Johnston*
Mick Fleetwood, drummer with John Mayall's Bluesbreakers and Fleetwood Mac
Albert King
B.B. King
Earl King (writer of "Come On" as recorded by Jimi)
Jimmie Vaughan
Tommy Thompson, former HHS secretary under George W. Bush and 42nd governor of WI
Yusef Komunyakaa (1994 Pulitzer Prize winning poet)
Butch Warren (legendary jazz bassist of the 1950s and '60s who recorded w/ Thelonious Monk, Miles Davis, Grant Green, Jackie McLean, Hank Mobley & Dexter Gordon)
Delbert McClinton
Danny Gatton, world's greatest unknown guitarist
James Carville, political pundit possible space alien
Judge Robert Bork (former Supreme Court nominee)
Marion Barry, former "Mayor for Life" of Washington, D.C.
Matt "Guitar" Murphy of "Blues Brothers" fame
Roomful of Blues*
Johnny Winter
There are many more that I can't recall and others that are famous only to a select group of people. The reason for the asterisks beside the 3 Beach Boys is because I actually played with them one night in July of 1987 as a 23 year old kid guitarist. Very cool experience! I also had the privilege of having the guys from Roomful of Blues pop into my gig one night after they'd finished playing at Wolf Trap to sit in and play for the remainder of the night in 2008. I used to sell Marlboro "reds" in a hard pack and Jack Daniels black label to James Carville on a weekly basis when I worked p/t in a liquor store on Capitol Hill; the weekend before the Lewinsky story broke, he came in and bought a carton of smokes and a 1/2 gallon of Jack!
