Mikko you are almost definitely right. 2010s have fairly thin necks made with two pieces of maple instead of thicker one-piece construction.

My 2010 feels thinner than my 2007, both of which I like. I would also say the profile is different, more of a "shallow" C shape than the tradtional full C shape feel. It's very easy to play but I gigged my 2007 so many times that it's the one that feels right in my hands.

Anyone got any ''Dim's'' for the necks on the 2010/11 4003's.

I don't have the dimensions, but IIRC, the change to the two piece slimmer neck was in the middle of April, 2009. If you're buying used, it's quite easy to identify the two piece lamination, especially on the rear. I have both a 2009 and a 1993 4003, both necks seem equally slim.

Yes, a new 4003 is a fine choice for a working bass. I've never played a bass with lower, faster, buzz-free action (and, I must mention, I attack the strings on this bass HARD in my band) than my 2010 4003. Additionally, the tone is fantastic, and they're just built so well these days! The cosmetic touches you mentioned are wonderful, as well.

If you have the means, do yourself a HUGE favor and get one!
