I think Koji is trying to decide which way to wind the coil, CW or CCW as that could have an affect on the sound. Of course, it will sound different depending on which side of the equator one is on.

Well, not really...

Now I am waiting for arrive the coil wire I have ordered from U.S.A.
And it is in a state still to be prepared a little in order to winding a coil.

I would like to thank you for your interest and your support.
And although far behind, it apologizes for my awkward English notation it is caused my poor English.
But as for me, it is pleasant that it can interchange with you in this way.

Koji, I can assure you that your English is far better than most of us would be if we translated to Japanese.

For the coil winding, its is consideration which especially Cj and Geir gave, and an opinion will be very helpful. Many thanks for CJ and Geir.
However, about the technical problem, it is a still strange field for me..

Should I winding the coil to the bobbin around to a clockwise rotation, or a counterclockwise?
- I was replaced in Bass with the bobbin for the Lap Steel with Horseshoe magnet, also in order to confirm it.
The bobbin of the Lap Steel is a clockwise rotation coil wounded, and polarity of the Horseshoe magnet is North Top.
As this result, it completely had the sound and it was normal.
However, I would like to make it reverse wiring once again and to also confirm the result.

Actually, I do not know whether or not it matters which direction the coil is wound. IIRC, what is important is the way the coil is connected to the volume control as to polarity, and the direction of the magnets....Take is away, CJ!

The direction in which the coil is wound, with respect to the magnetic field, will determine the polarity of the output. Opposite direction, inverted polarity (180 degrees out of phase). Now, which is the "right" way is a matter of opinion, and depends on the polarity of any other pickup you might have in the system...

Another important issue occurs.
it is related with potting of the coil.
There is a surface covered by the black membrane in the coil of the bobbin for the Lap Steel Horseshoe.

When it often observed and having been checked, I judged that this was probably Wax.
However, is this surface processing? Or since it is afraid, I do not understand decomposing this and investigating whether it is having permeated even the inside now but I think that this is only surface processing.
In my knowledge about the case of the bobbin for the Bass Horseshoe, I think it be completed without being carried out a potting.
How do you think kind of influence appears in a result in there is with or without a potting?

Mostpickupbobbinsthesedaysjusthavesomeelectricaltapeorsomekindoffabricwrappedaroundthecoils. Uh, lets try that again! Most pickup bobbins these days just have some electrical tape or some kind of fabric wrapped around the coils. They do not necessarily have to be potted, which makes them difficult if not impossible to open and rewind the bobbin in needed.
