Agreed. I'm not aware of a listing of the tensile for Pyramids, but having played around with them on occasion over the years, they are relatively high tension requiring a neck tweak. They are also a very stiff string to play.
I have never liked them.

That's weird, because I once tried to put a set of Ric strings on my main '72, which was wearing the 40-95 Rotos, and they immediately started pulling the neck forward so I took 'em straight off. And yet by those figures the Ric strings should be lower tension; it definitely wasn't the case.

If the Kaliums sound similar to Ric strings I probably won't like them. Ric strings sound far too polite to me.

I was wrong, they're 45-100's, nickles! I love the tone, but maybe I should try the 40-95's.

It's a real sweetheart! I had been having some weird output loss / phase issues with the HS, so I put a Lollar re-wound '73 bridge pu in there and man does it sing through a little B-15 reissue!

A Roto 45 is pretty stiff - even a 40-100 set feels quite a bit stiffer than mine - so going down to 40-95 should make a fair difference. I'd be interested to see how you got on.

Have you tried DR Sunbeams?? Really bright. I do prefer Kallium strings on most of my basses but I put a set of Medium DR Sunbeams on my 72 4001 and I'm in love with the tone. I first played DR's when I had Mark Walker's 1968 Mapleglo vacationing at my home. I fell in love with the tone.

Actually my 72 just arrived back from being refret and I'll be gigging her tomorrow night!

Haven't tried them Sepp, mainly because I'm not too comfortable with the gauges. May do at some point.

Just out of curiosity, where are you all finding the tensions of different string sets? I'm using standard Rotosounds (RS66LD) on my '72 4001, have for years decades, haven't noticed any problems. Action is as low as I like it and the bridge isn't bottomed out, so I don't think it's developing negative neck angle. It would be interesting to know the tension on these strings.
