Here are mine:

The Apple Scruffs - from the George Harrison tune - we did a lot of CSN, Joni Mitchell, Dylan - can't remember how we decided on this name.

The Jolly Beggars - 3 piece Irish band-did a lot of traditional music in a fusion kind of style - a la Pogues, Spirit of the West- Bushmills, Guinness and Planxty had a lot to do with picking this name!!

The Swinish Multitude - from the writings of Edmund Burke. Heavy Celtic, bass, drums, big honking accordion, etc. - I had no part in choosing this name, this was a band I floated into for about a year.

Stubby Longfellow - my current band for the last 5 years or so. It's a duet, I do strings (bouzouki, mandolin, guitar), the other guy plays mostly winds (recorder, whistles, uilleann pipes, bodhran). We do everything from Christy Moore to original tunes to Leonard Cohen to the Grateful Dead. I've already explained this one-I'm 5'3", my buddy is 6'9"

Three Simple Words - my other current project. One guy plays electric mostly, the other guy plays acoustic, banjo, and dulcimer, and I have my usual complement (with a 360 on the way of course!!) The most difficult name to decide upon. Eventually we all just chose one word and fused them together.

Trebizond. This was a name a friend of mine was thinking of using a few years ago. It's supposedly a mythical flower that when bees collect the pollen from it, they get intoxicated and fly all over the place.

I was in a band called 'The Vines" and we recorded an EP. So long ago, it's only on vinyl and recorded at Mitch Easter's Drive-In studio before some of the Aussie group of the same name were born.

My bands were Laceration, Ordeal, Miss America's Trash, Peanut Gallery, and Incinerate.

I made a really cool logo for Incinerate. It matched my blue flame rick quite nicely.

My band was/is "That 80's Band." We don't play out much anymore... We had a cool logo. Name said it all and folks knew right away what they were coming to hear.

Also did a short throw together project for one show and we called ourselves "Jeff Spicoli and the Mr. Hand Band."

First: The Murder Brothers. Had hard time getting gigs cause 1) at the thime the Hillside Strangler attacks were going on or 2)bookers (like at the Whiskey) were expecting a punk band , we were pop.
Then The Most then the Moondogs (I know, please hold the comments). Now The Shamus Twins, beacause 1) it makes no sense (4 of us, no twins, 2) it's stupid and no one will have a clue as to what kind of music we do and 3) it was the bassists' idea, I hate the name, but since I'm boss of all other things in the band, I let him have his way. But hey, our CD got good reviews! Read 'em! @ www.shamustwins.com (shameles plug).
