Jim..Just not sure what to do. Other than the route under the bridge, the bass is just awesome.

I have e-mails out to get some questions answered before I decide what to do.

I purchased a 330, 360 and 4003 from John @Old Boise Guitar for the same price as the standard models. I purchased a 660 from Dave's Guitars and another 4003 from Parkway Music at retail. I certainly didn't have a problem paying full retail. I appreciate all of them for being dealers of character and integrity. I know they could have been greedy.

I'll admit that I purchased the additional 4003 to sell, but I think she is in a good home right now.

As soon as that first DCM-4003 went on Ebay for more than double retail this kind of stuff was inevitable.

You're right Jim. You know what? I held back before, but I'm not gonna be nice about my feelings about that anymore. I think it was quite a kick in the teeth to fellow forumites who had to see 4003 DCM's on ebay when they didn't even get theirs yet.

I'd go as far to say that it was inevitable regardless.

People were always going to speculate on this much of a limited edition.

I was going to order one the first day with the sole intention of selling it for profit, but relented, thinking I'd let someone who really wanted one achieve ownership.

That's the economics of a free market and you can't change that.

I bought mine with the full intention of getting a player. Between my deposit and my receiving, these went from a unique player to a collector bass, overnight.

I don't think making a profit on a wise buy should be anything to be ashamed of...

My 4003 DCM has been sold at a nice profit for me. In return I was able to get a different Rick bass that I can play without reservations.

I really can understand the attitude of the people that got shut out on the DCM wish list.

Folks that got ripped off by the likes of CME or lost out because of procedures in the export market have my deepest sympathy...

Just don't let your sour grapes keep you from finding a different vintage of another fine wine!

Nicely put Ray. I, for one, am quite happy you made some profit on your DCM. I do feel for those that have been ripped. I got taken on the first Ric I tried to purchase by a second chance scam on ebay.

The secondary market at least does provide a chance for folks like me that didn't get in on the initial order to own one. This is the DCM arrival thread, so I guess I can report that Ray's has arrived at my house.

I was in the collectibles business. Mostly baseball cards and comics. From time to time manufactures like Topps,Upper Deck, DC or Marvel would put put a product that everyone knew would be worth a ton more once it hit the streets. There would be pre-sales and profit taking before anyone actually saw the goods.No one was ever happy.

I always felt it took a generation to know the true desire on the secondary market of an item. Maybe that's why the late 70's 4001's are taking off right now.
