Very nice song....

Close your eyes, give me your hand, darling
Do you feel my heart beating, do you understand?
Do you feel the same, am I only dreaming?
Is this burning an eternal flame?

I believe it's meant to be, darling
I watch when you are sleeping, you belong to me
Do you feel the same, am I only dreaming
Or is this burning an eternal flame?

Say my name, sun shines through the rain
A whole life so lonely, and then you come and ease the pain
I don't want to lose this feeling

Say my name, sun shines through the rain
A whole life so lonely, and then you come and ease the pain
I don't want to lose this feeling

Close your eyes and give me your hand
Do you feel my heart beating, do you understand?
Do you feel the same, am I only dreaming
Or is this burning an eternal flame?

Is this burning an eternal flame?
An eternal flame?

(Close your eyes and give me your hand
Do you feel my heart beating, do you understand?
Do you feel the same, am I only dreaming
Or is this burning an eternal flame?)

Anyone who attended a prom in the '80s will remember this song...In my case, it was my eldest daughter, Andrea, who would hum it while she was waiting for her prom date to arrive.

The melody to this song is sheer genius. Get out your Bic!

Great harmonies, orchestration, and singing, but I think I like the one you linked to better, Paul. Her voice has matured just fine.

I prefer the vocals as recorded back "then", John. Susannah's voice when she hit the high note in "the same" had an innocence that is missing from her mature voice. To me, that is the split-second that defines the vocal approach, and locks the song in for me. Dat's some fine schmaltz, Schloim.

I'm used to quite a bit, but bit is the right word here - looks more like she just got out of me bed in her nighties!

It's a chemise dress, and the same style she wore at the RIC75th. Have a look at Aitch's avatar...

See, I like the "experience" in her voice now and how the lyrics say she's found a safe harbor in her love. Po-ta-toe, poh-tah-toe. :)
