Well, "understudy" may be a bit trick, as the guitarist performed both shows anyway...

What does "MG" mean in, Booker T And The MG's?

I thought it was named after their producers (Chips Moman) car. He had an MG.

There are two different accounts of it and I don't think that there is one definitive answer as to exactly what it means.

I would have thought if they named themselves after the car, the band would have been called "The Limey Lemons"... kind of a counterpoint to "Green Onions" :mrgreen:
