Travis, that 330 looks to be "Ruby" and your sig says "Red." Do you know "Ruby"? Ruby is metallic and Red is just fire-engine red.

Paul, good point and I'm not 100% sure, but I questioned this on the RIC forum and the pointers that I got from JH and others is that it is Red. Always tricky in pictures but it has no metallic and is solid (no translucence either) - some more pics below - But it's always puzzled me too!

Hmm. Maybe it's the photos, but it sure looks Ruby to me. By metallic, I should say that it is a very finely-ground metallic, not "sparkly" like most metallics. Early Rubies were clear red over a silver base coat, and chips usually reveal the layering. Also, Red was standard with black trim but could be ordered with "reverse trim," that would be white plastic and chrome hardware. Ruby usually came with white/chrome, but examples have been seen with black trim. Reversing the trim was an extra-cost item so it wasn't done often. You might want to check the paint with a magnifying glass in bright light and see if you get a "deep" reflection.

I know it gets said a lot, and I don't really like to draw attention to aesthetics for fear of getting away from talking about the sound, but man... this thread pretty well proves that, in a band setting, Rics just stick out sometimes (all of the time maybe??). And in a good way. Some good looking instruments, folks.
