Whilst this is a reasonable representation of the Weller Ric I thought why he didnt get the colour and the shape of the headstock right? He can play along to Jam songs tho....
BTW the very last scene of this vid shows the MG back of Wellers Whaamm rickenbacker also.

Yeah, that's the problem if you're trying to copy one of Weller's Rickenbackers.
Most people completely miss the fact that all his guitars have the smaller headstock and not the big ugly one of the 90's/00's.
I thought that that was one of the most amazing things about Mark's (Godber) work on his Jetglo 330. The fact that he took the time and effort to research it properly and get every last detail correct, even going to the trouble of reducing the size of the headstock, that boy is brilliant.

It does look tidier Paul, the original custom paint job may have even been that way before the back got stripped. It was strange to remove the paint from the back, I guess that it was at least protected with something, but who knows with Mr. Weller. Maybe it was one of those home based attempted scratch fixing sessions which got bigger and bigger until the whole back was gone - that's my usual style!

The changes that celeb guitars go through in their working lives is fascinating stuff...for me, it's sometimes an unhealthy obsession!

On a completely different tack...(well, as different as Rickenbacker 330/340 can be!)...

This is a '58 345 that I've been working on off and on for a couple of years; finally finished. It was a struggle due to the fact that it had already been stripped and heavily sanded before I received it to work on. There were a couple of replaced and mis-wired pots, two pickups were dead, the back was splintered and the top edge had been over-sanded.

The result is shown below. I kept the fretboard original, refretted it, and following the transplant of a new lauan plywood back (per the original!), I set to work cleaning up the body and mixing up some colors. It's got several layers of nitro clearcoat on it, sanded, buffed and looking good as new. Tuners are original Klusons, bridge is original as is TRC; all merely cleaned up. A new Kauffman was fitted, new pickup covers, pickguard, and oven knobs, wiring harness, too. So, it's sort of a renewal rather than being a museum-correct restoration. Looks and plays well, and of course has that ultra-slim single truss rod neck.
