I think, after exhaustive analysis, many blind A-B tests, and lost sleep, that it's been determined that is has mostly to do with the case glue.
However, there's a definite maple tang to the bouquet, rounded off with a bit of conversion varnish fruitiness, with the merest shading of carnauba in the finish.
And they are all Very Good Years.

Paul, I tried to follow your advice

I spent the day used Rickenbacker hunting through the SF bay area and came up completely empty. So I came up with plan B. I'd buy a new 360 jetglo through Musicians Friend and then sell it when the 360BBR arrives. I'd take a bit of a loss but not too much...it would be like renting a jetglo for awhile!
I pitched the idea to my Wife and she gave the stamp of approval. As I'm placing the order I begin to think, what if I fall in love with the 360 jetglo and can't bear to part with it when the 360 BBR arrives? How can I possibly justify keeping 2 different finishes of the same make/model? Hmmm, instead of buying a 360 jetglo now, maybe I should buy a different model that could make sense to keep after the 360BBR arrives. I pitched that idea to my Wife, she rolled her eyes and said, go ahead.
So...I just ordered a beautiful 620/12 in midnight blue that should arrive sometime next week. Now, I'm taking my Wife of 26 years out to a very nice dinner!

Dennis, that's impeccable reasoning and a perfect choice.
Now you'll always have the 12, and soon you'll begin wondering about a 6 to join it until the BBR comes, and there's that nice FG 330-6, and baby makes three.
That how the sickness takes hold of you.
Did you try Rocker Guitars in the Mission? They've had a few come and glo...

Hi Paul,
we tried Rocker...first the line was busy then it rang & rang with no answer...this was after 6pm so perhaps they were closed? Anyway, the only new Rickenbacker's were at Haight Ashbury music. S'vale had a new 330 jetglo and SF had a new 360 jetglo but wanted $1350 for it. This seemed crazy considering you can get the same new 360 jetglo from Musicians Friend for $1099.

Rocker is a funny place. They have a good spread of stock, knowledgeable salespeople with good personalities, and pretty good prices.
But they have no website, and getting there and parking is a nightmare (unless you already live in the Mission), and as you found out, their phone is often busy.
By Sunnyvale and SF you're referring to which dealers?

Dennis,
Enjoy that 620-12! I've got one and like it more than the 330-12 I had years ago. The 620 has better sustain and treble, which is desireable in a 12-string. (Obviously opinions may vary here.)Good choice!
Respectfully,

Paul,
my SF & Sunnyvale references were to Haight Ashbury Music and their sister store on Washington Ave in downtown S'vale.
Larry,
I'm really excited about the 620/12, I've never even seen one in the flesh (or is that wood?) before

I was a bit concerned that since the 620 is a solid body that it wouldn't have the trebly jangle of the hollow 330/360 12's. Thanks for the comparison info!

Still pretty scarce...I lucked into this one.
I think a 350V63 would look great in this color.

Recently, Ben mentioned that a 620 BBR had shipped. Anybody seen it turn up anywhere? I'd love to see a picture.
PS - nice bass!

That is a beaut, and the best looking BBR I've seen yet, IMO.
Congratulations, Greg!

Lovely, Greg. Even though BBR doesn't grab me much, that is very pretty.

When I showed my wife a picture of a BBR, she said "It doesn't look like a Rickenbacker...it looks more like a PRS" (she knows her guitars)....woman eh!
I sort of know what she means...as lovely as it is.
