I love it. I like the way the grain comes through the finish, and the subtlety of the "burst."

Melissa, thats the most gorgeous 481 in the world. To think that one ex-Forumite I knew once referred to these guitars as "boat paddles". lol.

Thank you, everyone.... it was a way of taking care of two dreams at once--the 481 was an eBay purchase that my husband and I kind of regretted after we got it, because it was in such bad condition and was basically unplayable.... the case had sat unopened for a couple of years, as a testament to our foolishness. Once I saw the kind of work Paul could do, I knew that that poor guitar was redeemable, and I also knew that he could turn it into the Blueburst I always wanted!

Splendid job Paul! I kind of wish I had another refin project for you just to have another PW refin in my collection of guitars. Melissa, your two refins are fantastic looking!

Beautiful finish and color Paul. Is there any finish you cannot accomplish with such mastery?

Congratulations Melissa, I knew the color early on in the game. After purple, you were pretty firm in your other color wishes! It is a beauty and will now be written chapter and verse into "Jammin in the Can". Is it officially aquaburst or blue burst? I needs to know for my versifying.

It's definitely Blueburst, but not the stock RIC Blueburst. I would call it Blueburst with an aqua tinge to it. "Melibee Blueburst," maybe--it's exactly the color I always wanted, before BBR was a Ric COY....

Dean, I think it's funny that you would seriously consider writing a song about this refin adventure! Image I really would love to hear it when you've got it all done!

I have to rewrite mine in a different key, 'cause I just can't sing it with the chords I started with, even though they sound pretty cool, LOL!

Did you try a capo on your vocal chords?

A VC capo?! Oops...Image

Hehe.... Even if such a thing existed, I would be out of luck, as the song was too high.... I wrote it in E when I had the flu and couldn't sing a note--Guess I'll have to try it in drop-D.

Image Image I'd like to see that! The new Shubb Vocal Capo. For guys that could just be a well timed wedgie...

Ok Melissa: Meli-burst it is.

Melissa, I just stumbled onto this thread, congrats on getting a refin on that guitar, and for picking the right color! Image You must be thrilled, it's beautiful! Nice job, Paul! Impeccible.
Looking at the pictures reminded me of the smell of when I opened the case on mine for the very first time....ahhhhhhhhhh...

Yeah, Steve, I'm pretty fired up about it! Image

The shape of it reminds me of a BBR bass I saw in some pictures not too long ago.... Image

I can almost smell it too, although in this case it won't be Ric-o-smell; it will be the heady tropical aroma of Zymol, which is the smell of my Purpleburst as well..... AHHHHHHHHH! Image

Careful, Melibee..... Zymol sniffing could become addictive!! Image
