Bob, It's very different in the playability factor compared to all other 60's basses. For me anyway.
Now if you like bigger necks...
Rikk, you are correct. Always plenty of interest in the bass and a future custodian is out there somewhere, sometime....

My hands seem to work better with a thinner profile, but as long as it's not a P-bass big isn't necessarily bad. I love the feel of my Jazz and it's much ddeper than my '77 4001.
If I had the half-a-King's-Ransom that beauty's worth, it might fit me well!

Andrew, you should try TI Jazz Rounds (JR344), low tension strings. They have even lower tension than TI flats, and a lot less pull compared to most other 40-95 roundwounds sets. They take some getting used to (at first they feel sloppy) but really are good sounding strings. They should help with the neck bow.

+1 on the JR344, I have them on my 97 4003. The Powerbass strings are also low tension but not so much as the JR's.
