Jerry-- Funny you should mention the bizarre pairing of Jimi Hendrix and The Monkees. I've got a cousin 3 years older than me who got to see what was probably the last concert Hendrix did on that tour with The Monkees. Like all of the other young teens at the performance, she was there to see The Monkees. *UNLIKE* the other 99.99% of the young teens there, she ended up liking Hendrix's performance more than The Monkees. I think the venue was either the old (now defunct) Winston-Salem Coliseum or the original (still in existence) Charlotte Coliseum.

Hard to imagine Pete Townshend allowing The Who to open up for Herman's Hermits. Nothing personal on my part against the Hermits, mind you........

I guess the mindset, of the promoters at least, was this new teenage music sounds all the same to me!
