As far as the breakup of the Beatles go and who was in charge - I know nothing about ... other than it was all Yoko’s fault. ;-)
But also getting back to Sgt Pepper... I hate to drag this on but I think we need to differentiate between a good or great album and a so-called “influential” album. (And I would also argue about whether Pepper was/is actually influential at all.)

If Crosby and others sat in a room stoned listening to SPLHCB all day going “wow,” that’s one thing. I will admit here that when the LP first came out, I did the same thing. Listened to the darn thing over and over.

But as someone said earlier, nowadays it sounds dated. Truly great music shouldn’t sound dated in 40 years. Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony still sounds great. Scott Joplin’s Maple Leaf Rag still sounds great.

Pepper was highly influential if for no other reason than it led to pop songwriters printing their lyrics with records, and labels allowing bands to up the the budgets of rock lp packaging.

As for the music....some would argue that psyche was around in '65, when the Yardbirds used sitar on what became outtake of For Your Love.
