Good question John. The owner says they have always been there as long as he has known the bass going back to 1980...

whether the screw holes on this '69 pickguard will line up with the ones on the top of the bass is anyone's guess, really.

The black 69 was originally fireglo. When I bought it I had planned to do a refin if it turned out not to be an original Jetglo.
My gut told me it was goofy before I bought it. Those things aren't jumping offa trees any way and the odd parts were
fixable. I like the lap steel surround; it's like the '59 that Richard Smith's rare bird article has.

Did anybody notice that all the '73 and the '74 basses (I have seen so far) have the axis of the A and D tuners in parallel?

Hence this head stock even looks fake!

There is also another one: with similar head stock, also not quite original condition!
