The subject of this thread sold for US $8,150.00, but remember that it was a 2nd owner, so that may have added to the perceived worth.

I'm the first owner of my 1979 4005. My then girlfriend / bass player and I bought it new back in 1985. It had been sitting in a Rickenbacker warehouse for quite some time. We walked into Southpaw Guitars while the owner was on the phone ordering some new Rickenbackers, and knowing that we wanted one, he added the 4005 to his order when he saw us.

Sometimes the bass player in my current band, the Mockingbyrds, uses it.
