The dreaded tail lift

Who left the forum? I am pretty sure I was "involved" in the offending exchange, and I sure didn't leave over it. It wasn't so bad if you know the participants well, however, to anyone else it looked like it could escalate quickly. Peter didn't wait until after a bomb exploded, he defused it beforehand IMHO. I may have missed one or two comments before it disappeared, but I am pretty sure I didn't.
Of COURSE you should stay on this Forum!!! Life is too short to limit your future fun just because of one silly thread. It is not worth it.
Years to come of learning kajillions of things I never knew about Ricks is why I stay here, and I have never been disappointed! Plus this is the best bunch of guys I ever met through a Forum too

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you, and sit in with the band whenever you can, to keep your chops up!

the problem with the existing tailpiece design is that with the current location of the string holes and screw holes the force of the strings becomes a one inch lever ... thus the force applied becomes strong enough to easily bend the metal ... it is basic physics ... like using a wrench to loosen a nut ... the wrench is a lever which makes it easy to provide enough force to remove a nut or bolt ... by adding 2 extra screws the tailpiece is no longer a lever because the screws are behind the place where the force of the screws is applied ...
For all those who have been offended by the removal of a thread, may I remind you that this is a recreational activity for the moderator. I participate to the extent which I am able and at a level that my resources will allow.
I continue to be grateful for the sharing, support and knowledge provided by all who give of their time to post. It is my goal to strike a balance among all views expressed. Sometimes I am successful in this endeavour and sometimes I fail. Due to my own limited energy or resources I sometimes make decisions that result in the removal of a thread. Regrettably, I do not have the time required in each case to fully explain the complete rationale for my decision.
My observation is that at the end of the day no replacement or modification in an instrument, as in life, will guarantee happiness. This can only be found in oneself.

Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm
