Man that looks like it was fun! I wish I could have attended. Thanks so much for the pictures - the next best thing to being there I guess. And such a distinguished assembly - and I am not just talking about the instruments. Things seem to work out - someday.....

Hey - just checking in. It was great meeting so many of the folks face-to-face that I met here first. Thanks to the key players who organized this event and made it go so well. John Simmons, Dave Pascoe, Chris Clayton, and special thanks to Jeff Scott's wife (whose name I've forgotten; sorry!) who put so much great effort into photog-ing the whole event.

Many thanks, guys, for the props on my hand-painted lefty. I got a kick out of watching others plays it. And of course, I'm flattered that it graced the lovely hands of our bass models, male & female alike. (Richard - I don't suppose I could sweet talk your girl into posing with ALL my basses!)

I got a lot of super-nice compliments on my '68 4001, too. I'm going to miss it, but Dave P made me an offer I couldn't refuse. I hope $400.00 was fair, Dave - what with the cracked finish & all... (Enjoy!)

Hey Mark, after all those super-nice comments I made, how come you didn't mention to ME that you were taking offers when we were looking at it? Two 68s are twice as good as one! Image

Can you still do me the tracing and the photo of the pickguard mounted on the bass that we talked about Saturday in-person at MARF II, so that I can get one made perfectly by Tony at Pickguardian for MY 1968 4001 that I exhibited at the MARF? Image

Me too, Dale, I wish both you and Paul Wilczynski could have been there! I thoroughly enjoyed seeing and playing Dave's finished 4080, what a wonderful job you did! And you should have seen Paul Boyer's Mink, it was such an amazing paint job by Paul!!

I have a feeling when Jeff Scott and his wife get back to Cleveland, we'll experience the opening of the picture floodgates. As others have said, they'll be posting more pics as well. This will go on for a while, LOL. !!!

Oh so he's only RENTING it for a week, LOL...

In all seriousness that '68 is one of best I've ever heard and played, even it was upside-down. The feel of the neck is super.

I was happy to match some faces with the regular posters. The people I met were a great bunch. Genuinely friendly, helpful, and willing to share their great toys. Out of all the various clubs, forums and conferences I've taken part in, this forum has the best group of members I've encountered.

Hey Elys - no problem on the pickguard tracing. Just send me your shipping address info at my profile email. Sorry the "68 deal" was by you, but that's what you get for showin' up late! Early bird, my friend...

Man, nobody offered me anything for my junk. Image

That '68 was my favorite there though so I certainly understand Dave's pursuit.

Not much to add except to echo everything that has been said. John, Chris, Shelby, Dave...you guys were terrific. As I knew it would be, seeing old friends and meeting new ones (I guess that's both people and guitars) was great. I hope those of you who couldn't make it can do so next time...though we were close to being (if not actually) out of room.

The only bad thing about these events is the horrible danger of sneak GAS attacks. I try to pre-medicate by leaving my wallet in the car and my checkbook at home; but then there's always at least a couple of jerks there who trust you enough to give you their guitar in exchange for a promise to send money later....jeesshh....of all the nerve! Its just not fair...

What a Rickenbacker Sensory Overload! I saw so many incredible guitars and bases....just unbelievable.

Plus...meeting so many of you for the first time was just great. I met so many really nice folks. Special thanks to Chris for hosting, and to John and Don and David and everyone for organizing the event. (So sorry I missed Winchester.) The cookies were good, too! lol

I'll post pics as soon as I figure out how! :-)
