I was going to snap some new shots since I want to post pics in the registry of it and my other two Rics. It's been a number of years since those other pics of the 1993 were taken and now that I have a better camera it's time to take some better shots. I'll try to get some posted soon. OK, putting on my pretend CEO hat...

Aside from Beatles-related instruments, Rickenbacker has two undeniably iconic classic designs: the mid/late 60s 360, and the late 60s 4001. These models are the very foundation of the public identity of 'my' business. And for some reason, neither of them are available as standard reissues. Nor have they ever been, unless I'm mistaken. Forget about electric mandolins, 350s, 381s, CWs, McGuinns, special runs for Japan, Lemmys, Hoffses, Freys - all that stuff, in my book, should take a backseat to really representing the historic core of the line. I'd start with a 360/6c65 and a 360/12c65 (or '66, perhaps) and then introduce the 4001c68. And then I'd consider putting all the other C and V models (except the Beatles ones) on hiatus until the backlog cleared up.

OR I would do away with all non-Beatles reissues, make all production guitars 21-frets, try to keep as many vintage details as possible (like headstock shape and sharkfins) while keeping some modern touches (like the tuners, inlay materials, 2pc bass necks) and make hi-gains, toasters, and horseshoes available in the shop.

Oh wait but this is about reissues... 360c65 then.

Mine's been reissued...but only in Japan, and only 20 of them were made in the color I like!

I think "C" Series instruments should be replicas of our favorite musicians Rickenabckers. Whomever they may be. I then think the "V" Series shold be iconic instruments like the 360"V" 65 and 4001"V" 68.

Good point, Brian. You're right, that's the pattern the we can deduce from the current lineup. Whatever you call it, I think a regular reissue of the mid/late 60s 360 (in six and twelve) and the late 60s 4001 are overdue, because in my opinion they are the 'foundation models' of the business. But John and Ben and the other good folks at Rickenbacker have made tremendous improvements to the standard models in the last few years, and I acknowledge that scarcity and variety are partly what keep us hanging around in forums like this one. If I were CEO and could call the shots, there would still be a thread on a forum somewhere about what people would do differently if THEY were in charge. So y'know I guess we should be thankful that RIC is run as well as it is.

IF I WERE IN CHARGE : I would wear an aluminum foil hat and have a parade. At the parade I would throw free Rickenbackers from the back of my open-top limo into the crowd. That's what I'd do.

You have my vote, Jerry. Heck, I'd risk the massive head trauma just for the chance to catch a limo-hurled Rickie!
