I have noticed that a number of new members are (understandably,) still under the impression that the required post count is still 100. Although it has now been changed to 30, this does not become evident until reading the third page of this thread. Would it be possible to add a footnote to the original posting as to the correct amount of posts required, or perhaps a link to the post where the rule was changed?

Hi All and especially Moderator Rickenbrother --

Very new to this forum. Would like to ask for an exception to this rule. I've got a lot of posts up on the HHR, and have quite a collection of Hofner's, but no RICs. Please give a lefty the opportunity to find a good LH 4001 to play! :D

Cheers >>> CaliforniaMike

Does that include buying as well as selling? I can understand the selling restriction, but just wanted that clarified. Thanks, great forum

Yes, buying and selling but not appraisals.

The scammers are never going away, the exclusive use by posters of 30 what? replies.new postings? Ok living within the parameters of control freaks overreacting to the freedoms of speach on your private forum! Interesting that most of the "players " here are buyers of a legend ! The entire reason to be here is to brag about the fact that I have a Ricky ,have had a Ricky ,or that I want one ! Well you have the forum and the keys to the kingdom ! Enjoy your hatchet , but remember after the first swing you are vunerable ! At my age I have seen the magic of McGuinn from 3 feet away in '69 and 2009 , He is a Chicagoan and a fine gentleman who interacts with his audiences even after the 3 hours of playing his mastery ,and sharing his genius ,and throws in philosophy and history ! LONG LIVE THE KING ! I am sure Roger would approach the restriction as repression by the beaurocrats ! Jesus God the man sang about repression in protest ! If there is a scam , deal with it 30 or 300 posts do not an honest man revere ! Honest til proven otherwise ! REAL MEN DEAL WITH SCAMS ON A PER INCIDENT BASIS ! Ebay's biggest scammer from Buffalo Grove illinois had over 1,000 positive feedbacks , closed his account after posting $12,000 in nonsense too good to be true cheap items cashed out and was on a plane back to Germany STILL HAS NOT BEEN FOUND Do what you will , dumb people get scammed by the too good to be true ,and occaisionally the set up !

Robert: Welcome to the RickResource Forum and thank you for your expressed love of Rickenbackers and McGuinn, both outstanding reasons why we are here.

If we hold the keys to any kingdom it would be to the domain of respect for the feelings of others. Our rules are a basic guideline just in case our views may be vastly different for those of new members. To that end, please note that politics and religion are topic areas that are not permitted here.

I would ask that you reflect upon you comments with a view to moving away from the rhetoric in the future. In that way, you will get the most out of the RRF. We certainly tolerate the views of others but sarcasm and cynicism can only lead to hard feelings all around and we do our level best to keep both to a minimum.

With your rant over, I look forward to hearing of your experiences with Rickenbackers and music over the years and welcome your insight into the same.

Robert, I don't think this 30 post rule was set up to protect people from scammers, but to keep people from posting once, to buy or sell a Rick, and then disappearing forever. RRF is a Rickenbacker-fan community, not a Craig's List subsidiary. If it were it wouldn't hold all the valuable info it does hold!

Your angry post makes me wonder if you only want to buy or sell a Rick and then be off - which would be a shame - just go over the forums, do a search - there's a wealth of info here and a great bunch of people!

I just worry about my sons and the idiocracy of photo enforcing and guilt til proven innocence ! I have read your forums and the opinions expressed about "other" guitars and regard that i have gone to TASS and TESS on the USPTOand seen the Rickenbacker copyrights ! The slash which is a German luthier of eld , the copyrights are for the paddle head the wave head the wave body , the name of course, the names of the models and colors , the use of a triangle logo Intereseting read The preponderance of the Lanham act states that if someone thinks its one of the copyrighted items that 's enough to call for a violation! So imitation being the highest form of flattery The jiber jabber of those who express dismay at the "imitatation need to be general and less condesending ! The fakes and the counterfeits are abominable ! But an Agile Harm or the italian guitars are to me exempt as wannabees not threats ! Have some class ! The world's a nice place just becasue you have $1.200 in ONE guitar doesn't make you a judge of the rest !

Robert this forum is ALL about class.............a commodity that you seem to embrace in principle but judging soley on two angry posts in a row, one that you seem to exude little of yourself. Please tone down your rhetoric or you will lose your privilege to post on this forum fairly quickly.

As a newcomer, I'll weigh in on this.

I completely agree that the restriction should be kept in regards to a newb posting items for sale. I wonder, though, how many members of this forum would like to reach some of us newbs in order to make a sale. Seems like it hurts established members more in that regard.

However, I do understand the argument to keep the restriction as is, so I have no complaints.

I don't know; it makes it kind of cool, like buying a samurai sword or something and having to prove yourself to the guy who made it. With that said, I just hit thirty, so I can say that it really doesn't take that long--just like some of the regular posters told me a while back.

I'm a newbie(in posting that is) but have always browsed through this site for the knowledge of it's members.
If the the magic number is "30" then so be it.
